Tecno Pova 6 Neo Review: A Budget Phone with Massive Battery

Tecno Mobile recently launched the Pova 6 Neo in Pakistan, a budget smartphone targeted towards power users on a tight budget. As someone who relies heavily on their phone every day, the massive 7000mAh battery was very enticing to me. Here’s my review after using the Pova 6 Neo for a week.

Design and Display

The Pova 6 Neo has a plastic back and feels sturdy for the most part. At 9.2mm thick, it’s not the slimmest phone out there but the massive battery requires some heft. On the front is a 6.78-inch LCD screen with FHD+ resolution. Colors look vibrant and the 120Hz refresh rate makes scrolling and navigating very smooth.

Performance and Software

Powering the phone is the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset with 8GB RAM. I didn’t encounter any lag or stutters during general use like social media, browsing and light gaming. Heavier 3D games performed decently as well. The Android 14-based HIOS 14 software is clutter-free and easy to use. You also get some extra Tecno features like a productivity mode.

Cameras

On the rear is a 50MP main camera that takes some nice detailed shots in good lighting. Colors tend to look a bit oversaturated though. The 8MP front camera is adequate for selfies and video calls. Video recording maxes out at 30fps for 1080p which is disappointing.

Battery Life

This is where the Pova 6 Neo absolutely shines – the 7000mAh battery just does not quit. With moderate usage, it easily lasted over 2 days on a single charge. Even with heavy gaming/streaming, it easily lasted over a day. The 33W fast charging is also appreciated.

Verdict

If you prioritize multi-day battery life on a budget, the Pova 6 Neo totally delivers. It’s not the fastest or most feature-packed phone out there, but for its price tag, it offers massive battery life which is its biggest selling point. Recommended for those seeking an affordable everyday driver that doesn’t need charging too often.
